The Actor’s Intensive

Reignite your passion for the art and craft of acting

The Arts Club Theatre Company’s Actor’s Intensive is a 5-week course that takes a back-to-basics approach to tune up the mature actor’s instrument with voice, movement, and acting training from working pros. This course culminates in a showcase of participants for invited directors.

The class structure mirrors conservatory programs and incorporates the best of brain science in its design providing practice that is frequent and focused. You’ll work out your instrument three times per week for 15 hours per week, for 75 hours of instruction over the five weeks—enough time to polish off any rust and get galvanized for lasting change.

There will also be an opportunity to meet with both the Program Director and Head Instructor post-class to discuss your progress and next steps.

• Actor’s Intensive Schedule 2012
• Classes three times per week. 16 hours per week.
• Classes will take place at the Arts Club on Granville Island in Vancouver.
• Students will showcase material for an audience that will include directors from the community.
• Maximum of 12 students
• Minimum age: 25 (preferably 30 or older)
• Cost: $663 + $80 HST = $742

This is both a process and a product class. You will learn and relearn the process of acting through movement, voice, and acting training. The acting training will incorporate voice and body work and examine the decision-making process that goes into crafting a performance–what are the building blocks of character, the mechanics of a scene? How do we achieve clarity in our work? You will also integrate the process back into the product as you work on scenes and monologues, both classic and contemporary, to be presented at the showcase.
