Process–Cost, Qualifications, and Application Process

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum age 25. Preferably 30 or older. This is not a course targeted at youth, but one for the old, middle-aged, mature.
  2. You must have significant training and/or experience in acting and performing (preferably both) however it’s A-OK if you haven’t been putting these skills to work for decades, years, …uh… a while.
  3. People who have done two or more professional gigs in the previous year are not really the focus of the class. However, if you feel strongly that you would benefit from this class, you should feel free to apply.
  4. You do not have to be an Equity actor. You do not have to be a non-Equity actor.

To apply:

  • Submit a one-page cover letter that clearly states why you think you would be a good candidate for the class AND a 1-page resume summarizing your performing experience and training.
  • Please include your contact information.
  • You may submit a headshot but it is not necessary
  • Submit your cover letter and resume to actors[DOT]intensive[AT]artsclub[DOT]com by February 10, 2012.

The process after application

Dean and Scott will be reviewing all applications received by February 10, 2012.

Those that meet the qualifications and are felt to be a good fit for the class will be invited to come to an audition.

If you are invited to audition you will be asked to present a monologue of no more than 3 minutes. This monologue should be from an established play from either the classical or contemporary canon with at least 1 professional production to its credit.

Successful candidates once being notified of acceptance into the class (Hooray!), will need to make a non-refundable deposit of $350 by March 1, 2012 to secure the spot. The remainder of the tuition is due March 31, 2012.

Total Cost: $663 + $80 HST for a grand total of $742. Less than $10 per hour of instruction!

Further money note: If you have to drop out of the class between March 31 and April 17, if we can fill your spot with another student, your tuition, less the deposit, will be refunded to you. If we cannot fill the spot you will forfeit the entire amount.

Failure to make the deposit or pay the remainder of the tuition by the due dates will result in a loss of your spot in the class.
